About Me

Hi! My name is Katie and I like to travel. Over the last 10 years, I have ventured on many solo and group trips covering three continents (don’t you fret, I’ll get to the others soon!). This space is where I get to reflect on the numerous benefits of traveling:

  • Meeting fantastic, one-of-a-kind people
  • Stretching myself outside my comfort zone to continue learning and growing
  • And exploring as much as there is to see while treating my body and my mind–and share my stories with you folks.

It’s also an excuse for me to play with my camera, whom I have named Lincoln, and to trick you into thinking I am way better at photography than I actually am.

I have goals (not a surprise to the people that know me) for this blog, so let me take a moment to tell you about them! I am going to provide as much information and insights as I can on how to make travel accessible to everyone. I bought my first plane ticket when I was 18 years old to Honolulu, Hawaii, on a waitress income and while in college. Now, nine years later, I have a little more of a financial buffer, but am learning how to budget for multiple trips within a year. It is not easy, but traveling is a non-negotiable expense for me. It can be for you too!

My other hope, as I mentioned in the run-on sentence above, is to show the unique and life-changing benefits of traveling. It’s good for your mind, your health, and your soul. With an open mind, traveling will never be a regret. Even if it costs money, time, and sanity, DO IT. We can all use a break from our everyday lives; treat yo self to a trip.

Without further ado, here is a prose tour of what you can find on this site:

Travel BlogMy honest, transparent, embarrassing and (hopefully) inspiring tales of traveling. Nothing will be left out, and I am happy to answer any questions you may have about where I’ve been and what I’ve experienced.

Destinations and TipsThose quick “5 Things to do in {insert city]”, and “How to Pack for a 10-Day Trip: Carry-on Style” articles can be found here. Search by continent, country, then city, or click over to the Travel Tips page for my fool-proof tips (finalized over much trial and error. Don’t you waste your time on that trial and error business – just hop on over to the tips!).

PhotographyCheck out semi-decent (maybe?) photos from my travels! I’m a visual person and sometimes prefer to see pictures of a city before reading about it. I have to appeal to myself as well as my readers, right?
